The Road to 250: Celebrating Arizona’s Spirit
Arizona’s approach to the 250th, led by the Arizona America 250 Commission, focuses on "RISE" values: Respect, Inclusive Collaboration, Stewardship and Service, and Education. Here are some of the ways the state is observing the occasion:
Statewide Commemorations: Throughout 2026, various communities are hosting historical exhibitions, community festivals, and civic programs designed to highlight Arizona’s unique role in the American story.
Educational Outreach: From public library programs like "Revolutionary Weekends" to interactive storytelling (such as the Martha Washington magic shows), there is a strong focus on bringing history to life for all ages.
Community Service Projects: Initiatives like "Service250" encourage residents to engage in volunteerism, emphasizing the idea that a "more perfect union" is built through daily action and service to our neighbors.
Cultural Arts Initiatives: Keep an eye out for projects like the "Saguaros250," a public art initiative inspired by historic art parades, which will feature local artists decorating sculptures to reflect Arizona’s unique flair.
Public Heritage Events: State parks and historic sites are hosting special ranger-led activities, bird walks, and demonstrations—such as the Faro games in Tombstone—to connect residents with the lived history of the West.
